This is a cleaned Defiance #1245 jack plane.
Defiance makes a great low cost jack plane for the woodworker who only needs a hand plane occasionally. The defiance 1245 never had a lateral adjustment mechanism so they are ideal for a light weight jack plane. Great for leveling glue lines in panel glue ups and similar task.
The knob and tote are original with most of the original finish. They have been lightly sanded and given a few fresh coats of lacquer.
Japanning is original and is in reasonably good shape. The top edged of the sides have the typical chipping.
