This is Edition #16 of The Hand Tool Chronicles which is a series of publications which will be a Photographic Presentation of Woodworking Hand Tools with descriptions, informative articles and expert opinions. This edition “The Hand Tool Chronicles– Hand Saws by Charlie Earnest Take Two” is a continuation of the saws Charlie Earnest has made. These saws are beautiful heirloom saws that are well crafted and build with a traditional style and are reminiscent of saws made 100 years ago by the great saw makers of that time.
As a saw maker Charlie doesn’t want to simply make the same type of saw over and over. Instead, he wants to explore the history of western saw making from its roots in England through the golden age of American saw making. While Charlie does take the occasional commission and routinely makes saws for past customers, his real focus is on making whatever interests him and furthering the interest’s others have in vintage saws by recreating saws from various time periods and makers. Charlie loves making saws and hopes to encourage others in their saw making and research the same way he was encouraged.
This is a must have reference series for any vintage tool enthusiast or collector or anyone who just likes to sit down with a book like the D’Elia’s Antique Tool Museum book, Warman’s Tool Field Guide, Murland’s Antique Tool Value Guide or any of the hundreds of other tool books and scroll through the thousands of images and descriptions and take in the history, the artistry and the uniqueness of the tools.
