The 1877 Sargent Block Planes -Type 1s – (History)

The first listed here of these are the Block Planes made with a Cap with the lever under the cap. These type one versions can be a challenge to find, and if the seller knows what they have they can be pricy. Luckily for Sargent collectors, with so many collectors focusing on Stanley planes, these will sometime slip under the radar.

Sargent also had block planes in 1877 with a wheel under the cap. These type 1 block planes as just as hard to find and often hard to identify.
