I’ll start with an order of metal from Enco. 1/2″ thick for the base, and 1/8″ thick for the sides.

I had an idea of what I wanted it to look like. This is the first time I made a wooden model to get the proportions correct.
Cutting on the band saw is much easier and faster than a hacksaw, but if your only making one or two, a hacksaw or sawzall can be used
I wound up evening up the sides with the belt sander. A milling machine would sure come in handy at this stage, but I don’t have access to one, and this gets the job done. I use 80 grit
I cut the sides and clamped them together. The third one will act as a template. I hope to be making a few more of these. I then filed them even
