All features of TYPE 17 except:
- Handles of new design & painted black.
* The large brass adj. nuts now have diagonal knurling.
* Castings are lighter in weight as pre-war production.

** Raised ring cast in bed at toe

**Left handed depth adjuster nut
** Hardwood knob and tote instead of Rosewood (Usually painted black) and slightly different design

**Type 18 and early type 19 had diagonal knurling on the cutter adjustment knob.

**Stanley logo on the lever cap
**Smaller sizes have rib at heel, #5 and larger will have a rib at toe and heel
